Lowell expects shot next week

Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell was out of the lineup for the fourth time in the last six games on Friday night. You might not see Lowell at all this weekend as a starter. The tightness in his hip is lingering, and Lowell expects he will get a synvisc shot in his right hip early next week, perhaps by Monday.

The good news about a synvisc shot is that it only requires about a 24-hour recovery period.

There is no Jacoby Ellsbury tonight. The center fielder banged up his right elbow crashing into the wall in Josh Bard’s double Thursday night. Kotsay is playing center. Ellsbury expects to be back in the lineup on Saturday.

Happy Friday everyone!!! Once again I’m on my way to bowl but will watch in between frames and with the help of an extended RSN family at the lanes we keep each other updated on highlights. No cheer..
Just:
GO REDSOX!!!
ps… Julia, at about the 4th give a woooooooo-woooooo for me please!!???
Thanks Jules!!
Ellen/Trixie (its the weekend, Trixie wants to come out for a while!!!!)

ps… Just Like Beckett I want to put up a few Strikes tonight myself!!!! I’ll check in when I get home… Bye Y’all!!!!

Will do Ellen! Have fun bowling and I hope you and Beckett get LOTS of strikes!

I’m a little worried about the news concerning Lowell! I hope he will be okay! Be back soon!

GO RED SOX!!

Ellsbury banged up his elbow? How much better will it be tomorrow than it is today?

David Ortiz’ numbers are much better, but don’t be fooled. He is making his living off stupid pitchers. He still can’t get around on a good fastball. Best he can do on a 92+ mph fast ball is foul it off because he’s always late. I think his days of driving the ball to right field are pretty much over.

Beckett seems to be throwing well to start off the game.

Beckett does seem to be throwing better Garry. Let’s hope we are hitting better tonight!

Come on Josh – let’s keep it together!

Nice grab David!

For Ellen/Trixie

WHOOOOHOOOOOOIDOBELEIVEIDOIDOIDO!!!! GO RED SOX!!!! WHOOO HOOOOO!!!

I hope I did it right Ellen!! :-)

Come on Josh – you can do it! Get the guy out!

One more Beckett!

Then we need to get some hits boys! GO RED SOX!!!

Nice job Beckett! Great way to get out of a little trouble!

COME ON RED SOX!!! SCORE SOME RUNS!!!!

BIG PAPI!!! WHOO HOOO!!!!!

3rd HR in the last 4 games!!

All I have to do is say it, and the opposite comes true. Papi really turned on that fast ball.

Yes he can Garry! I feel confident that Papi has turned the corner.

Did I just miss a balk? COME ON BOYS!!!

YES!!!! Good job Drew bringing Dusty home!!!

Well at least we got another run!

Let’s hold them boys! WHOOO HOOO!!

You can do it Beckett!!!

It would be nice if he has turned the corner Julia. The Sox need him, especially with the way Pedroia, Youk and Drew are struggling. Youk in particular is really struggling. His average has dropped 80 points in the past month.

GREAT DP Guys! Big Papi is doing a good job on first!

LET”S GET SOME MORE RUNS!!!

Youk – he needs to “calm” himself at the plate – I think that will help. All our bats have slowed some – the grind of the season, I think. Hopefully they will all get back on track soon!

Okay – not a good try at stealing Kotsay!

Hey Julia, everyone must be out bowling tonight!

Big Papi out, Kotsay on first, Jacoby in center. Bottom of the 7th.

Hi Garry – yeah – I think it is just you and me holding down the fort! I think Dave is away with his kids on vacation and Ellen is bowling.

Beckett is having a good game tonight.

For sure, Kotsay is not Jacoby Ellsbury on the bases. However, he’s a steady player and doesn’t hurt the Sox a bit, either at first or in the outfield. I think he’s going to be worth his weight in gold going down the stretch.

PLEASE!!! ONLY LET LUGO HIT FOR BECKETT!!! DO NOT LET HIM IN THE GAME!!!!

I agree Garry – he is a great play to have.

All 3 Red Sox -Braves game have sold out. None of the Yankees-Braves games sold out!

YAY DUSTY!!!!!

This is better guys! KEEP IT UP!!!!

7 shutout innings for Beckett!!!

ANOTHER BALK!!! WHOO HOOOO!!!!

Okay – nice job coming home on the passed ball Dusty – BUT YOUK!!! KEEP YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME!!!!

I like how the game is going! WHOOOO HOOOOO (for Trixie!!)

OKIE!!!! Pickup the ball before you RUN!!!

Error for Okie!

Delcarmen & Pap warming up

Great call by the ump, it was a balk.

Julia,

You said Youk needs to “calm” himself at the plate, that is the reason why he is one of the best hitters in the game. Youk doesn’t have a clue what the word calm means. Youk is very intense and that is what makes him tick! That is how he plays the game and I don’t want him to change.

I’m a little concerned with Lowell’s hip. I think come late July Boston might try to snag DeRosa from the Tribe, of course if the price is right. Shapiro ( Cleveland’s g.m. ) will not just give DeRosa away. DeRosa is versatile and Theo and the Red Sox like those kind of players.

Beckett with another solid start. I think Beckett looks better now than he ever did in 2007.

A great weekend here, after this interleague play goes bye-bye, AMEN BABY!

NOT HAPPY WITH OKIE!!! An error and a walk???? NOT GOOD!!!

Chipper Jones was clueless against Oki.

I agree Brian – his intensity is what makes him a great hitter – but doesn’t it seem at times that his emotions lately are getting the best of him?

Beckett is looking great! The best he has looked. And amen to interleague play being over. Now – if we can just get out of this inning! Okie is driving me to drink tonight!

Thank you Okie! Two outs! Let’s get the last one!!!

Garret Anderson is a guy that has had a solid career, he’ll never see Cooperstown but the guy has over 2,400 career hits. Mighty impressive, just looked it up and I was a tad surprised too see that he had that many hits. Anderson made his big league debut in late July 1994, long ago!

Atlanta is another team in the N.L. that has a bunch of automatic outs. I think I could go 5 innings against some of these N.L. lineups, LOL!! Come to think about it, I don’t think I could go 1 inning in a wiffle ball game!

NICE JOB OKIE!!! WHOOO HOOO!!!

COME ON BOYS – YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!

Julia,

Youk is a very emotional/intense guy and that is what drives him. I’m not sure emotions are getting the best of him lately. He could be banged up a bit, don’t know for sure.

Come on Brian – you’d make it through at least one inning of Wiffle ball! lol!

Come on Jacoby – his elbow is swollen from the hit he took in the out field Wednesday in Washington.

Youk could still not be totally recovered from the time he spent on the DL.

Okay – this Braves pitcher is “no on” shall we say.

No ulcers tonight Pap! JUST GET IT DONE!!!!!

PAP!!! I said NO ulcers!!!!

One more!! Just one more!!!

JUST GREAT!!! Papelbon – PLEASE JUST END IT!!!!!

YES!!! THANK YOU PAP!!!

For whoever stops by later – see you all tomorrow!

GO RED SOX!!!!

Wakefield is up tomorrow

Looks like I missed another great game.
Was Papelbon’s velocity good? Personally, with a 4 run lead I’d rather see him throw strikes, be aggressive and maybe give up a solo bomb, than nibble around and get runners on base and wear everybody out. Just my 2 cents.
Beckett is huge right now. And if Papi can keep up the improvement it would be great.
Good game, Sox!
Garry, how have you been?
