A new pitcher on the Hill

Just when we thought the Red Sox were done with roster moves, a new pitcher has arrived in Seattle, one with local ties.

His name is Rich Hill, and he is a left-handed pitcher from Milton, Mass. Hill was signed by the Sox as a Minor League free agent on June 1, and went 3-1 with a 3.74 ERA in 19 games — six starts — for Triple-A Pawtucket.

At one time, Hill was a pitcher the Chicago Cubs thought highly of. In 2007, he made 32 starts, going 11-8 with a 3.92 ERA.

But a torn labrum and subsequent surgery served as a prolonged road block. Hill has pitched just 19 games in the Majors since ’07. He is 30 years old.

I guess if you try enough of these reclamation projects eventually one will work out……..Smoltz, Penny, Schoenwiess, Gagne…………..
Go Rich Hill!! Go Sox!!

And Boof Bonser and Matt Fox…….If Theo had a crystall ball and foresaw that the Yanks would lose 2 out of 3 to the Jays, swept by the Tex and lost the series opener to the Rays when CC was pitching, he might have done something differently at the trade deadline. Never mind zu spat.

Hi Guys! Sorry for my absences, but I have good reason.

I was just reading over some of the previous threads and noticed that GroundHog (Hound frog) has poked his little brain in here again. I guess his fantasy teams are done for the year and he is finding himself with tons ‘o time on his hands. For him to vent is fine, but not as he did. He is just another rude, insensitive, KNOW-IT-ALL. We’ve dealt with that kind before and no doubt we’ll have another one (or 5) next year. He’ll go back into his hole in the ground, awaiting a time when he can come out and insult Ian and the rest of us. It’ll be like a yearly event. He’ll give Punxsutawney Phil a run for his money. After all is said and down we are always here from beginning to end and then some. It’s a family kind of thing.

I know that you will all be glad to know that I am sitting here with NO rose colored glasses on, drinking a half empty glass of tea. I can now say it: THE SEASON IS OVAH, DONE AND KAPUT. But, You know what?? There’s always next year.
I missed last nights game due to my back and all its glory ( so tired of all this back stuff ). I guess that I picked the wrong night to miss.

I enjoyed reading all of y’alls posts. Kept me laughing, thinking and most of all kept me from being bored out of my mind!!! Thanks.

Andy, What’s “zu spat”?

Ellen:
zu spat means too late. How’s your back? Those guys (Greg, dave, et al) left me out. You know what I mean. I will do something to cheer you up.
Mathematically it’s still remotely possible. Yanks and Rays have to face each other 6 more times. If the Rays sweep the Yanks and Sox sweep the Mariners, the Sox will play the Jays and Oreos and 6 more times with the Yanks. I can dream, can’t I?

Just conversing with you cheers me up!! I think of you guys all the time. I just can’t sit at the computer like I used to be able to.
I’ll email you about the rest. Thanks for thinking of me Andy!!
(I’m sure that the omission wasn’t intentional)
