A chance to meet the Captain
Jason Varitek will be there for fans to meet on Saturday in Easton, Mass. when he makes an appearance on behalf of the Jimmy Fund for the Makeovers Salon & Spa. Fans who purchase a $50 gift certificate can have a chance to meet Varitek and get an autograph. The event takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. Part of the proceeds will go to the cancer-fighting Jimmy Fund.
Even though Varitek isn’t currently employed by the Red Sox — he is a free agent — he remains loyal to the club’s most identifiable charity.
“Owners Ed and Norah Blum are both good friends, and I have been getting my hair cut at their salon Makeovers all season, so when asked to make an appearance at their Holiday open house I was more than happy to attend,” Varitek said through a publicist. “The Red Sox have always come together with the Jimmy Fund and to be able to raise some money for them and it’s certainly my pleasure to help whenever I can.”
